Who Pays?

Who pays to keep these sites going? Is there any value to anyone?

Track and Trace

April 1st, 2008

Do people charge for producing this sort of site:

rarebird.com

It got to be an in-house job. Is there any point in tracking and tracing the sites listed here? Would Google pay an attention to a spam report? Who is behind it?

Working Good Causes

I find it difficult to excuse those who work good causes for self enrichment. I get all bitter and twisted and begin to doubt  everyone and everything:

Too much “goat” for comfort

March 29th, 2008

Didn’t like this one. I wouldn’t say its MFA. But the adverts are overdone. Its might also also serve as a useful resource for anyone intrested in goats but I hate it.

Affiliate Sales

March 29th, 2008

This is a good example of an affiliate sales site. Its been set up by someone selling on behalf of one or more net shopping portals. Can you trust the info? Does it warrant a listing? Would you accept it if it was submitted to your site for a review?

WildanimalsOnline

This is an informational site. Its run by no one. It has no purpose. It has no credibility:

Pop vultures

Popular topic, popular site aimless traffic and a fertile breeding ground for Adverts by Google. But does that make cat-dog-names.com a quality site and suitable for a directory listing.

Monetised with Adsense

March 29th, 2008

When is Adsense not Made for Adsense? Not an easy question and everyone will have a different answer but here is one example:

fishlore.com is an informational site which has no obvious purpose, no contact details and which displays Google Ads in prominent positions on its pages. Its made to generate adsence revenue. But at the same time it supports an active community and this is what gives it purpose. One assumes that the community is concerned about the credibility of the site and the content it offers users. As such it can safely be listed as a site that is monetised with adsense and which offers credible content.

Links Litter

March 15th, 2008

Not sure about this one. It doesn’t seem to go anywhere

the-creative-home.com

  • Has ads by Google but is an interesting site with good ideas and offers

We need to question the purpose behind that site. The adense adverts are not intrusive and it would be difficult to argue that it made solely for Adsense. The content looks genuine but the invite to do business is incomplete. My suspicion is that its professional links litter and that the developer is positioning the domain much as I am doing with our directories. The question you have to ask is whether their intentions are honourable and whether they are building a site to offer a service or whether they are building a site to market sites they offer SEO services to. I would not accept this site. Despite appearances it has no substance and for that reason I would treat it with suspicion.
